Italy's new executive, led by Giorgia Meloni, has 26 members. Ten ministers belong to Fratelli d’Italia, five ministers are members of Lega, and five ministers are members of Forza Italia. There will be six ministries led by so-called technocrat ministers, figures only indirectly involved in politics and each an expert in their field.

Ministers may be distinguished in two types: those with and those without portfolio. This difference is based on the presence of a bureaucratic organization. A Minister is in charge of a bureaucratic structure, while a Minister without portfolio is not. Ministers without portfolio are not contemplated in the Constitution but their appointment is a consolidated practice that makes possible to obtain a political equilibrium.
