Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, visited New Delhi between April 24-25, 2022. The European Commission President and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, held talks on trade, technology, climate-related issues as well as the continuing challenges arising from COVID-19.

Several geopolitical issues including the situation in Ukraine and developments in the Indo-Pacific region were discussed as well. A key outcome of this engagement was the agreement to establish the India-EU Trade and Technology Council which will work to tackle key trade, economic and technology challenges, and advance cooperation in these areas.
