On the evening of May 18, 2022, Alberta Premier Jason Kenney stepped down as leader of the United Conservative Party (UCP) after winning the party’s leadership review vote with just 51.4% support in voting results.
On May 19, 2022 the leadership race launched and to date, seven candidates remain in the race: Leela Aheer, Brian Jean, Todd Loewen, Rajan Sawhney, Rebecca Shultz, Danielle Smith, and Travis Toews.
