Ian McCabe is based in Hong Kong and leads Edelman Global Advisory’s Asia Pacific Advisory team. Named for three consecutive years by PR Week as one of the world’s most influential PR professionals in the Global Power Book, Mr. McCabe provides positioning, issues and crisis management, and other counsel to corporations, organizations, and governments throughout Asia.

With over 40 years of international communications experience in countries throughout Asia, North America, Latin America, Europe and the Middle East, Mr. McCabe has worked with officials at the highest levels of client governments to address issues that impact international perceptions of those nations or regions. He has designed and implemented sovereign economic communications programs to help client governments achieve international economic or political objectives, including an award-winning crisis management initiative for the Korean Ministry of Finance and Economy during the Asian financial crisis.

Mr. McCabe has provided corporate positioning, issues management counsel and strategic communications for bid-support efforts to multinational corporations and Asia-based firms in various industry sectors. He has also served as Senior Counsel to the leadership of companies and organizations, including Cathay Pacific, Foxconn, Carlsberg, AIA, the China-United States Exchange Foundation and many others.

He joined Edelman from another global communications consultancy where, for more than 20 years, he was Vice Chairman of that firm’s Public Affairs and Government Communications Practice in Asia. Mr. McCabe first came to Asia as a US Peace Corps Volunteer and represented the San Francisco-based Asia Foundation in Indonesia, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.   He holds a degree in Journalism from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo.
